Linen is a strong natural fibre that gets softer with use and time. It’s breathable and has a soft texture. Caring for linen properly helps maintain its natural characteristics.
Regularly check linen garments for stains and treat them promptly to prevent them from setting.
Avoid using harsh chemicals or spot removers on linen, as they can damage the fabric.
Dry clean linen items only when necessary, as frequent dry cleaning can shorten their lifespan.
Spot-clean minor stains. Use a mild detergent or a solution of water and white vinegar. Avoid rubbing the fabric harshly.
Hand wash or machine wash following the temperature recommendations on the product’s care label or instructions. It will help prevent shrinkage and maintain the fabric’s integrity.
Pay special attention to darker colours, that should be washed at low temperatures to reduce the risk of fading.
Do not use bleach or other harsh chemicals that can weaken the fibres and cause discoloration.
Use a mild detergent to avoid damaging the fibers.
Wash light and dark linens separately to prevent colour bleeding.
Always check the care instructions that accompany a product, as they might indicate specific instructions due to colour, print, construction or end-use.
If possible, air dry your linen garments to maintain their crisp feel.
After washing, reshape the garment. Lay them flat on a towel or hang them dry.
Avoid direct sunlight to prevent fading.
Check care label before tumble drying your linen. If using a dryer, use a low heat setting and remove the linen while it’s still slightly damp to prevent excessive wrinkling. Tumble-drying will give your garment a softer feel.
Note that tumble drying and heavy centrifuging will add to the wear of linen; use cautiously to ensure the longest possible life for your product.
Iron linen while it is still slightly damp for best results. Use a medium to hot iron setting.
Alternatively, use a steam iron or place a damp cloth over the linen to smooth out wrinkles.
Iron linen garments inside out to protect the surface fibres and maintain a smooth appearance.
Store linen in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight to prevent discoloration and damage.
Fold linen garments neatly to avoid deep creases. If hanging, use padded hangers to prevent shoulder marks.

Synthetic fibres such as polyester, polyamide, acrylic, and elastane have many useful properties that can be enjoyed in a variety of garments, including activewear and swimwear. They’re usually comfortable, quick-drying, and keep their shape well. However, they also shed tiny plastic particles that can enter the sea and cause harm to our ecosystems. Here’s how to care for synthetic garments.
